Maura Bendett is an artist based in Los Angeles, CA. She studied art at the University of California, San Diego, transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles, and received a BA in Art, and an MFA in Painting.

Past exhibitions include a 20+ year survey at Rio Hondo College, LA: Edward Cella Art + Architecture, LA; Roberts Projects, LA; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; POST gallery, LA; The Kemper Museum, MO; and the Santa Monica Museum of Art, LA.

Her solo shows have been reviewed by dozens of publications including numerous print issues of Art in America, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, The Peter Norton Collection, and many other private and public collections nationally.

Maura Bendett is known for creating sculptures made of steel, paper, plastic, wire, clay, and acrylic paint. Her biologically themed constructions reference abstract painting as well as fungi, cellular structure, sea dwelling life, plant forms, and outer space.

Maura Bendett will have a solo show at rdfa in April, 2022.
